How to Setup Outlook 2010

This guide will show step-by-step instructions for setting up email on Outlook 2010 for Windows. While it can be used for other versions of Outlook, some screens and steps might vary.

Adding a new account.

1. Open Outlook 2010 on your computer.

2. Then click File and then Add Account.

3. On this screen select option Manual configure server settings or additional server types, then click Next.

4. On the next screen select the option Internet E-mail and then click Next.

5. On the next Internet E-mail Settings, you are required to complete various fields related with your personal data, server and logon information.

Your name: Your full name or company name
Username: your email address
Password: email password you have already created or been supplied by Webfirm

Account Type: Imap or Pop3 – the main difference between the two is imap stores your emails on the server meaning that you can check your email inbox and sent items from multiple devices. Pop3 stores the emails locally on the computer that you use

 

Incoming Mail Server:
If Imap is chosen as the Account Type: imap.webfirm.com
If pop3 is chosen as the Account Type: pop3.webfirm.com

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.webfirm.com

6. Click More Settings button

7. Click Outgoing Server tab, check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and then check Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Click OK button.

8. Click Next Button.

Check port settings in Advanced Tab –
If you are using POP3 with SSL, please enter 995 for your port. Otherwise leave the port at 110.
If you are using POP3, you may choose when messages are removed from the server.
If you are using IMAP with SSL, please enter 993 for your port. Otherwise leave the port at 143.
If you are using SMTP with SSL, please enter 465 for your port. Otherwise change the port to 25.

9. Outlook will now test and you will see: Log onto incoming mail server, and Send test e-mail message. When they are complete click Close button.
