Country girl turned Melbourne foodie, our digital client services assistant might not like Game of Thrones, but she knows a thing or two about your website! Learn more about our girl, Lauren Reece.
Hi Lauren! What do you do at Webfirm?
I have the ridiculously long title of Digital Client Services Assistant; what I really do is make clients happy by making changes and edits to their websites, and assisting other members of our team, like our copywriter and search marketing specialist, with their workload.
You are a fairly new addition to the team. What is one interesting thing that you have learnt about Webfirm?
Hmm . . . probably that people here cross-skill a lot, which is great. A lot of the team have had multiple roles in the company, so they have a good understanding of others’ areas of expertise, and if not, people are always willing to teach.
It wasn’t that long ago you were living in a small rural town, do you miss it? What’s your favourite part of Melbourne?
No. I don’t miss it at all. I love Melbourne and living in a big city. I am a huge foodie and love trying different restaurants and bars, and having a wider variety of ingredients to cook with. The thing I probably would say I miss about the country are the farmers markets, where you go and chat with the guy who grew the [insert vegetable] you are buying and he tells you “it’s really good in this dish I’ve been doing lately . . . “
Do you have any nicknames? What are they?
I have a few nicknames people throw about: Lozioto, Lozza, Loz & Laurie.
What is something that loads of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
Game of Thrones. Don’t kill me but I just never got into it and stopped watching a few episodes in . . . ?
Tell us your best travel story…
When we were in India we climbed a hill looking over the city of Pushkar one morning to watch the sun rise over the city and sacred lake. There are all of these monkeys up there too, wandering around. We had brought food up to snack on, and they are so bold that if you didn’t eat quickly they would just walk up and take it out of your hand.
Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
Michael Jackson or Elton John, they are always stellar fallbacks.
What do you wish you knew more about?
I wish I knew more about coding. Working with websites, I’m often trying to work out what is going on with one by reading the code. At the moment I’m doing a really enjoyable basic course to try and learn more about coding, and how to write code.
